Made it to the end of Swordtember! Yaaaaaay ~
I suppose the last four of these are maaaaaybe cheating; but it's been a beat or two since I made a seasonal set, and I wanted to, so there *lol*
Unrelated to swords, there may be a few more critters incoming in the semi-nearish future ...
01. Aleia, the Blade Halo: Less a sword and more a spirit manifestation, a slowly orbiting ring of ghostly blue-white blades like a mandala rotating behind the one implanted with an aleia-jewel. Five to ten blades, each of which may block an incoming blow or be snatched and wielded against all comers, suddenly solid to the manifester's touch; any such use dissipates the blade, and replacing blades requires expending one's own lifeforce.
02. Whitewing: A bastard sword of heavy blade, grip wrapped in white leather and pommel engraved with folded wings. Whitewing's owner can swim tirelessly even bearing the blade, may choose to buffet a target rather than kill, and shapechange into a great swan, taking all gear with them into the form -- but the transformatin must last at least 12 hours, come what may.
03. Swift Silence: A slender, curved shortsword, almost more of a small scimitar, hilted in bronze and brown leather braid with a luminous moonstone in the pommel-nut. Whisper the name of a quarry to the blade and it will disappear; if the desired target is within 10 miles, the blade strikes as if on silent wings and disappears again, returning to its bearer's hands. Alas for those who abuse Swift Silence's gift too often; they find themselves hunted by ghostly wings and terrible talons in the night.
04. Hekariaweri: A sheath for a lair, yes, but this wise and sibilantly sardonic creature, this steel-and-silver construct -- for all her sharpened hood and bladed tail -- is far more than a mere weapon, for all that her cobra shape will straighten into that form or strike of its own accord. Hekariaweri watches for those attempting to ambush her bearer; thrice a day she can swallow spells on her bearer's behalf, disgorging them later.
05. Antiblade True: What a strange contraption; a metal sphere the size of one's head, oddly light, with slotted grip for one's fingers. You won't cut with this, of course not -- and any blade that connects with it turns into harmless floating streamers of bubbles. Whee! (there's always one ...)
06. Heartrender: Truly a fearsome blade! -- but not as one may expect. Wrapped in tattered brocade, its blade is weathered but sports a fine edge -- and any struck by Heartrender has their greatest perceived (or feared) failure shrieked aloud in a horrid mocking voice by the triumphant sword, sorcerously understood by all.
07. Spring-Flower: One of the Quarter Blades. A mirror-bright longsword, flats enameled with pink petals, mounted in cherry and rosy leather and electrum. Spring-Flower is bane against undead and will heal one injury, completely, daily.
08. Summer-Ray: One of the Quarter Blades. A matte longsword, flats enameled with yellow sunbursts, mounted in rowan and green leather and gold. Summer-Ray is bane against demons and their kin and can sunder illusions or detect lies once daily.
09. Autumn-Gather: One of the Quarter Blades. A blued longsword, flats enameled with orange leaves, mounted in oak and brown leather and copper. Autumn-Gather is bane against shapechangers and will provide daily provender for one when touched to any organic source.
10. Winter-Warding: One of the Quarter Blades. A frosted longsword, flats enameled with blue snowflakes, mounted in birch and white leather and silver. Winter-Warding is bane against sorcerers and their kin and can set a subject to sleep or break an enchantment once daily.
