Outside of looking up game- or type- or genre-specific discords (which can get tricky), and especially for something more general, I'd recommend making an account on dice.camp, which is from my observation one of the most active if not the most active tabletop fedi instance.
(I say this as someone on a much smaller tabletop instance; but I'm also hoping to self-host in the nearish future. dice.camp is fairly lively though)
No algorithm to feed you posts; out you go to find people and follow them, and also follow hashtags (following hashtags is good).
